Current Obsessions: Spring Cleaning our Wellness Routines, Hobbies and DVR Schedules
It’s that time of year…when the calendar tells us that spring has sprung, despite the flurries and the constant need for a jacket and gloves. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to warm weather and sunny days by revamping a few areas of our lives with our latest current obsessions.
My Current Obsession
By now you know that we are pop culture junkies. CMT’s new show, “Music City” combines some of my deepest guilty pleasure passions, including reality TV, made-for-TV love stories, country music, and of course, Nashville.
If you haven’t seen it yet (what are you waiting for?), “Music City” is Adam Divello’s latest concoction. You may know him as the producer behind MTV mega-hits “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills.” His latest show, set here in town and filming at all the trendiest bars, restaurants, honky-tonks and shops, follows five cast members who are chasing different dreams but all looking for success (and maybe, a little romance). Hate me. Judge Me. I. Don’t. Care. I will be tuning in every Thursday at 10ET/9CT to see what these kids are up to.

One of my favorite things about the times our Choice team is gathered in the same room is hearing about their current obsessions and latest finds. At a team meeting last month, Kerry told me about FabFitFun.
I mean, I had already heard of it; I’d seen plenty of ads and mentions in my social media feeds. But I tend to tune out anything subscription based, assuming it’s cumbersome to cancel, overpriced, etc. After hearing her glowing endorsement, I am happy to report that I just received the Spring 2018 box and am completely, totally, 100%… well, OBSESSED! I’m pretty sure that, within about an hour of opening my box, I had tried 80% of its contents. I lit my candle, moisturized my face, applied the ridge filler to my messed-up nail, nursed my dry elbows with the body butter, brainstormed matching outfits for my clutch and tassel earrings, studied the lip palette tutorial and even tested the massage roller on my leg (I approve). The only reason I didn’t immediately try the body polish was that I had already showered that day, and the only reason I didn’t immediately try the eye mask was that it definitely wasn’t bedtime yet. I’m so excited for the next box (Is it Summer yet?)!
Heather’s Current Obsession
“There’s room for everyone at the barre.” That is the slogan of my most recent obsession (and the reason I can’t stand up from my chair without groaning), Garage Barre. Based in Murfreesboro, Garage Barre is a barre fitness studio that values community over competition. The studio was founded by Kirby Dudley and Lacey Garrett and they literally started it in their garage. Now, they are located on the quant square in Murfreesboro, and I couldn’t love this workout, these ladies and the atmosphere more. It is an intense and demanding workout, but it is so much fun. The classes fly by and I leave feeling like I had my butt kicked in the best way possible. On top of the physical results, I’ve seen a change in my mental outlook, too. It doesn’t matter if you are a young twenty-something or a young-at-heart forty-something working mom. All different types of women in all different stages of life come together at the barre to chase the same goal: to feel strong and empowered. And frankly to love the skin we’re in.
Devin Lee’s Current Obsession
I’m less than a month away from my wedding and I’m still in the thick of all things wedding planning. Over the last few months, I’ve been using my Cricut machine non-stop. The machine cuts paper, vinyl, fabric and chip wood. I love creating designs and seeing them come to life! And, it’s saved me money by helping me make my own table signs, decorative wood signs and countless other items for the wedding. I’ve lost a lot of hours searching Cricut projects on Pinterest – there are so many fun ideas out there!

If you haven’t heard of Kelly LeVeque, do yourself a favor and check her out. She is a nutritionist, wellness expert, health expert, author and advisor to celebs like Jennifer Gardner, Molly Sims, Jessica Alba and others. Our Founder, Heather Adams, raved about Kelly’s newest book, “Body Love,” so I decided to check it out. I’ve just started working my way through the book, but I absolutely love Kelly’s positive approach to eating and weight loss. She encourages readers to live their life in balance and to love their bodies. The reasons I chose it as my Current Obsession are because of Kelly’s encouragement that you can eat healthy, but also indulge every now and again, and the science she explains behind the approach. She knows her stuff (she completed her postgraduate studies in clinical nutrition at UCLA and UC Berkeley) and gives you step-by-step explanation of why the approach works. Plus, the book includes recipes and day-by-day meal plans.
